A SPRING OF SPORT FOR NORTH WEST YOUTH

Over 160 young people from some of the most deprived areas in the North West enjoyed a spring of sport thanks to a series of special tournaments hosted by the NW StreetGames RESPECT Project during Easter and May Half Term holiday week.

The Easter StreetCheer festival which took place at Blackburn Rovers Sport Arena was won by Team Blackburn, while the Prospects team from Kensington in Liverpool were victorious at a Futsal tournament held at Robin Park, Wigan.

During May Half Term a regional Futsal tournament also took place at Litherland Sports Park in Sefton. The boys’ tournament was won 3-0 by Netherton Activity Centre who beat the Positive Futures 1 team in the final.

But while a friendly rivalry may have existed between the two teams in the final, the girls played so well that they will now unite to form a squad that will represent the North West in the first ever national StreetGames & Manchester United Foundation Girls’ Futsal Tournament at Manchester United’s Carrington Ground, on 29th June.
