North West Street Games Network


s4l_logo_sm.jpgSport 4 Life Ltd. manage the NW Street Games Network on behalf of the Street Games National, the network has a range of partners including Sports Development workers, Sports Governing bodies, regeneration workers from New Deal for Communities & Neighborhood Management Pathfinders initiatives, Dept. for Culture, Media & Sport, Sport England, Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, Govt. Office for the North West, youth & community groups. Its aim is to strengthen links throughout the North West and be used as a vehicle to show how sport, leisure & physical activity can be used as an effective tool for bringing communities together.

Sports Minister to attend Street Games Festival 2007


The Rt Hon Gerry Sutcliffe MP (Sports minister) has lent his support to the 2007 North West Street Games Festival to be held on Friday 31st August 2007 at SportCity in Manchester. Nearly 1,000 young people will compete across eleven sports & activities including: Sportshall Athletics, 3 V 3 Basketball, Kwik Cricket, High 5 Netball, Duathlon, Tag Rugby, Military Challenge, Futsal, new for 2007 is Cheerleading, Handball & Graffiti Art.

Cheerleading Street Games Festival Practice Day


Cheerleading is a new sport at the Street Games Festival, Sport 4 Life & the UK Cheerleading Association have arranged a number of team practice days to rehearse the set routine, this is ideal for coaches, staff & volunteers and we want you to bring your cheerleading team so that they can join in with the practice. The 1st  is at The Sporting Edge in East Manchester on Friday 1st  June, 10am to 3pm.


This costs £20 per team or FREE to Street Mark accredited projects.

`Stand up Speak Up` Five a Side Tournaments


A `Stand up Speak Up` anti racism themed Five a side tournament was held in Hattersley, Tameside on Friday 16th February 2007. The event attracted teams from across the North West, including Hattersley, Liverpool, Blackburn & Manchester. The next tournament is on Friday 1st  June at `The Sporting Edge` in East Manchester. It is a 10am start for squads of 6, two competitions- Under10`s (mixed boys & Girls aged 8yrs+ only) under 11s (boys only aged 10yrs+ only) only £20 per team entry, or FREE ENTRY for Street Mark accredited projects, there are limited places so book early.
