The North West Personal Best Project, lead by a regional consortium of training providers and managed by Sport 4 Life has been described BY SkillsActive Sport as, “One of the most successful Personal Best projects nationally”, with 73% of learners achieving across the consortium. We were one of the partners that contributed to SkillsActive receiving the Gold medal award for the most invaluable volunteering projects linked to 2012 by Podium the further and higher education unit for the Olympic Games.

This project had such an impact upon regeneration and legacy in the North West that Project Manager Jill Rothwell was invited along with other Third Sector partners to meet Rt Hon Francis Maude MP Minister for the Cabinet Office and attend the Beach Volleyball final on Horse Guards Parade at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

104 (29%) SUCCESSFULLY FOUND EMPLOYMENT
108 (30%) PROGRESSED ONTO FURTHER EDUCATION OR Training
21% ARE STILL VOLUNTEERING

477 people undertook Personal Best in the North West
348 achieved Level 1 Award in Preparation for Event Volunteering (Personal Best) or L1 Certificate in Preparation for Event Volunteering.
106 Year 1 Learners applied to volunteer at London 2012
36 were selected and attended their Games Maker interviews
26 were offered Games Maker roles
16 accepted Games Maker roles
5 Personal Best Learners also volunteered at Old Trafford as part of the Manchester Ambassador Programme.
