For the past 3 years, Sport for life has managed the North West Street Games festival. The North West Street Games is a multi-sports festival held annually for inner city and regeneration areas across the North West of England.

Young people from around the region and given the opportunity to take part in a number of sports which are delivered by high quality coaches from the sports governing bodies. The young people are specifically targeted because they are not currently linked to clubs or taking part in regular mainstream sport.

Having the competition at Sport City is a fantastic opportunity for the young people taking part to get access to some of the best facilities the North West has to offer.
The festival is a culmination of a wider project aimed at engaging young people through sport and physical activity. The initiative is supported by partners throughout the North West from sports development to housing associations to PAYP and the police. (For more information, see the Street Games section)
